Your communicator will beep quietly if a new blog post of any kind is made. While this noise is relatively unintrusive, your character may switch their device onto silent mode if it annoys them. Tweets are always silent.
The Blog
Label your posts accordingly by putting , [voice] or [text] in the topic title.
What you can do here includes the following:-
- Text Posts
Your character is typing away at their little communicator just like you are at your computer. Feel free to include abbreviations, txtspeak, 1337speak, slang, and even typos if these things seem like the way your character would type. - Video Posts
Your character has found the video recording function of their communicator! In 'video' posts, you write out a post as if you are in a normal roleplay, but bear in mind that your character is being recorded by their communicator. They can put it down and move offscreen, and then any characters who are watching won't be able to see what they are doing... but they'll be able to hear just fine! A character using the voice post might not even know their communicator is switched on. - Voice Posts
This is much like the video posts, but other characters will only be able to see the name of the character who posted it. Everything else relies on sound. Write the post as if you can HEAR what your character is doing, but not SEE them. Describe sounds and speech, but leave the visual aspect of posting entirely alone. Again, a character might not know they are being recorded - remember that time you left your phone in your pocket and accidentally calling someone.
If you're replying to a post, you may reply with any of these three formats - for example, if you're replying to a video post, you don't have to reply with video - feel free to have your character leave a text or voice reply! Just mark it accordingly with any of the usual tags at the top of your post.
You can literally go nuts in the Text Posts section. Seizure-inducing font, ALL CAPS, ttly rad txt lnguage lol!!1, FiLl YoUr PoSt WiTh GlItTeR...
Do what you want!
But please, keep it in the blog section - and it still has to be in character, because remember that if you play a dark villainous man with a windswept look and a hateful disposition, he probably won't be using that bright magenta blinkie font you got from myspace.
(...Or will he?)
Twitter
Treat this like the website itself. Your character can opt out of this just like they can opt out of the blog section or going to the cafe or talking to someone they don't like.
The difference between the City's version of Twitter and the real world Twitter we know is that the City's Twitter has no one on it except those who have been brought to the city.
This means no celebrities, no friends from the outside world - just the characters our users have brought to the City of the Lost, and no one else.
