Mike kept grinning, chuckling at Beth's attempt at flight, marvelling at how she seemed perfectly fine, if not happy, with the new additions to her anatomy. He himself felt a little embarrassed, and raised his eyebrow at Caitlin as she entered, shouting angrily.
"Looks like someone's had their feathers ruffled," he remarked, his grin getting even wider until it threatened to split his head in half horizontally, "Judging from Beth's, uh, experiments, these things slow your fall, but you can't really fly." As if on cue, his wings fluttered, and he flapped them experimentally a few more times till he was comfortable with the new muscle movements needed to set the wings in motion. On impulse, he went to the far end of the room before turning and sprinting at the sofa.
"To infinity...AND BEY-woohohoooah!" He leapt onto the arm of the sofa and into the air. He glided at high speed across the room, straight out of the door that Val had left open, before pushing himself off the door opposite his room and managing to float halfway back across the apartment. He skidded to a halt, and looked at the other two.
"Hell. YES."

Beth nearly cowered as Mike ran past and out of the door, fluttering and fritting with his new wings. Quickly getting over the shock, she began to laugh, grinning as she saw Caitlin was okay and seeing her wings also. "I don't approve of the colours but they are pretty awesome.."
Rushing into the living room, she hopped onto the sofa, climbing to the top of it before running and jumping off it, hovering out of control before banging her head on the wall, falling to the ground on her back. "Uhhh..." She grumbled, holding her head from the impact. "That didn't go well" She muttered, mainly to herself before getting back up.
"Didn't you say we should go to the roof? Maybe now would be a good time..." She grinned, feeling the adrenaline of the thought of what she had planned already pulsing through her body.

Day 2
Caitlin didn't know whether to go with Beth to the roof. On the one hand, she would love to test out her new wings by jumping off the roof, but on the other hand, she could feel her energy levels depleting; it was a matter of could she be bothered to do it or not. "Hmmm...I think i'm going pass, i'm shattered. I think i'll go to my apartment and sleep, if that's alright." She rubbed her eyes and stretched a little. "I'll see you guys tomorrow...though it would probably be in the afternoon by the time i'd get up...At any rate I'll see you later." Caitlin gave Beth and Mike a light hug before walking off to her apartment and hopefully to a peaceful nights sleep.
Yeah, going to have some alone time now I think my character needs to sleep...So laters!!

Mike's laugh rang out as Beth hit the wall, before coughing guiltily and adding "You alright?". He blinked at the mention of the roof; in the hubbub and excitement that had followed their entry into the apartment, he'd forgotten all about the roof. The roof, and the wasteland it revealed. Mike viciously suppressed a shudder, focusing instead on what Beth was thinking. He was pretty sure he knew, and grinned yet again.
"Well, you only live once I guess," he nodded. 'That, and killing ourselves might be the only way out of here,' his inner voice chimed in. Mike shook it off - he was never this macabre. He just needed to acclimatise, that was all.
"Catch you later, Caitlin," he said as she made to leave, hugging her back before turning to Beth, "Right, to the roof then!" With that, he began to jog to the lift, feeling adrenaline and energy already beginning to course through him.

Rubbing her head in defiance to the pain, she cast a sharp playful gaze at Mike for laughing. "Oh that's very nice isn't it" She responded sarcastically, with a smirk etched on her face. Turning her head as Caitlin was just hugging her, she hugged back in response, not really having been paying attention. "See yah in the morning! If I don't die!" She replied, sticking her tongue out to show she was joking before turning back to Mike.
Watching as he began to jog to the lift, she followed him closely. "This is either going to be really awesome, or really stupid...i'm hoping for the prior" She explained, heading into the lift and pushing the button firmly to go to the top floor. Stood in the lift, she took the time to look in the mirror at her new wings, moving her body in strange ways to see what effect it had on them, most likely looking very odd herself whilst doing so.

Mike leaned against the elevator walls, watching with a bemused expression as Beth twisted into positions he was sure weren't in any yoga textbooks. He stifled a laugh.
"Well, if we don't die horribly, then it'll be pretty awesome," he smiled, fluttering his wings slightly, "Just be warned, the view's a little scary at first." With that, the lift pinged and the doors slid open, letting a gentle breeze float into the lift. Mike swallowed hard and walked out.

A frown grew on Beth's face, more from confusion than annoyance. "What do you mean sca-" She paused mid-speech, having stepped out of the lift and onto the stone grounded roof of the apartment building. For one thing, they were a lot higher up than she imagined, she wasn't afraid of heights, she just didn't expect it to be this high. Yet this wasn't what caused a twisting sensation in Beth's stomach.
Her eyes met with the outskirts of the city, expecting to see..well, at least something at all, Beth's gaze met with a dusty clouded outskirt of nothing. Nothing surrounded the city apart from a thick fog through which she could see absolutely nothing.
Stepping further and further out, she let out a quiet "Woah..." Slowly taking in the sight, before blinking a few times and turning to look at Mike. "So there's nothing then...nothing outside this city. We're trapped?" She asked, not giving him time to answer before replying to herself. "Well we'd better make the most of it then" She said, with a strangely calm tone, before she raced past him at quite a speed, running and running before reaching the end of the roof. Jumping onto the edge, surrounding the building, she used it to propell herself further into the sky so she was above the roof itself. And for that short time, freedom was the only feeling available.

Mike frowned as he looked out over the city. The fog, which had previously been absent, coated everything beyond the city, yet the air within the city limits was clear as ever. The sky above was also clear, giving the strange impression that the whole world, apart from the city, was covered in a blanket of cloud. He opened his mouth to reply to Beth, but turned his reply into a gasp as she ran past him and hurled herself off the edge of the building. Once he saw she wasn't about to plummet to her doom, he grinned and waved at her, feeling the adrenaline coming again.
He went to the edge of the roof that topped the face of the building that the entrance was on, and climbed onto the ledge that bordered it. His heart was in his mouth as he looked down. The ground was a very long way away. He was on the verge of panic when a strange feeling of calm washed over him. What had he to lose? With that, he looked out across the city, then dived head first off the edge.

Breath baited, Beth floated for a second above the ground, suspended god knows how high at the top of a building with nothing but pavement a long way down below her. Well Beth was sure this wasn't what she'd of expected to happen upon coming here but who cared.
Turning her body, she began to decend slowly to the ground, wind gently rushing past her face, causing her hair to fly about. Taking advantage of her position, Beth used her high height to float around, kicking off from the side of the building to spin around and twirl in the air, flipping whilst laughing all the while.
Upon nearing the ground, she righted herself position wise and landed with a quiet thud onto the pavement below, managing to stay on her feet though. Regaining her balance by leaning on one of the walls of the building, she sighed from laughing too much and began to walk around the apartment block, looking for Mike.
"Miiiiiike?" She called, looking upwards and down on the ground, hoping he hadn't fell to his death or something, guilt turning her stomach. Maybe he was still at the top, she thought, maybe he hadn't jumped yet. Relief flooded her as she spotted him above, wiping her brow in response, while exhaling deeply.
