Where am I?

[lunar]

A young man was walking along the street when he started to hear a faint creaking sound above him. As he looked up he noticed the creaking cae from a slightly aged sign labeled "CAFÉ DELUXE" "A cafe?" the young man sighed "Maybe someone is inside.... Maybe I can get to find out what's going on here...."

He opened the door and stepped in "This place is not bad.... Seems pretty modern..." He looked around, trying to spot anyone.

[radburn]

Radburn walked down the lonely street, looking up at the strange buildings all around her. She hadn't seen anyone else since she left the subway station, and in a way, that was comforting. Maybe it was a good thing. If anyone found out that she couldn't remember anything about herself, they could easily take advantage of her.

But still...

She stopped and hung her head in thought. Maybe if she found someone, they could at least tell her where she was. From there, she could make a plan on what to do next.

What do you do when you lose your memories?

A loud rumble in her stomach made her jump a little. Crap, I'm starving....She looked over her shoulder at the building she stopped in front of and read the sign. "Cafe...." Her eyes moved from the sign to the window, and she noticed a boy looking around inside.

Worth a try.

She pushed open the door and walked through carefully. "Um....excuse me, could I talk to you for a second?"

[lunar]

The man quickly perked and turned around to the new person. "Y-yes... Go right ahead." He quickly went from confused to nervous.

"I-I don't know what's going on here s-so I doubt I could be of much assistance... But better something than nothing...." He really seemed shy and not quite the socialite either.

[radburn]

Radburn paused for a minute before finally looking up. "Where am I?" She laughed nervously, looking away sheepishly. "Wow, what a question. You must think I'm an idiot."

[lunar]

He blinked for a bit "Umm... That's what I want to know too" Leon laughed shyly, looking away too. "I just got here too... Sorry I can't be of much help to you." He chuckled a bit.

[radburn]

Radburn blinked, then sighed. "It's fine...I think...." Her eyebrows furrowed. "Is it okay for both of us not to know where we are?"

Suddenly a loud rumble came from her stomach, and she blushed a deeper red than her hair. "Uh....uh....I'm sorry," she mumbled, looking away. "I can't remember when I last ate something. I'm really hungry." She looked around. "This is a cafe, right? Where's all the food?"

[Robot]

At that moment, a small, red robot with a peeling paint job and a cracked eyepiece rose from behind the cafe counter. Something whirred quietly and then there was a barely-audible click as it turned to gaze in the two newcomers' direction.
"Greetings, new citizens! How may I serve you today?" It tapped its metal claw on the counter once, making a sharp clanging noise.

[lunar]

He meeped loudly at the mechanical voice and turned to the robot quickly "Y-yes?... Umm... Can we have a table for two please?"

He smiled shyly at the robot and turned to Radburn "I guess we could go for some food?"

[radburn]

Radburn's eyes widened, and after a minute of looking from the robot to the new person, she nodded. "Um...sure?" As she sat down, she looked at the boy again. "So, who are you anyways?"

[Robot]

"What would you like today?" the robot chimed, gesturing behind itself to the shelves of numerous types of drinks. "A drink?" It tilted its head to one side and there was a faint rattle, like there was something loose inside it. "Or perhaps something to eat? I am happy to help."

[radburn]

Radburn looked down at the odd little robot and smiled. "I'd like a burger and some fries. Maybe....maybe water?"

[lunar]

Leon smiled "I'll have a cola and fries please~" He looked at Radburn "My name is Leon. I was planning on moving for my job. That's when all this stuff happened. I worked as a product designer and have been behind several recent major lifestyle improvement products."

[radburn]

Radburn smiled. "That sounds pretty cool. Your life sounds so nice." She looked out the window and thought in silence for a long time.

This guy seems nice. Maybe I can trust him? Yeah, I mean....yeah.


Finally she turned back. "To tell you the truth, I don't really know what to say about myself." She looked down and started plucking at her dog tags. "See, I woke up in a bathroom stall, in a railway station. About an hour or two ago, maybe. And....I don't remember how I got there. I don't remember anything. Not even my name." She paused and took off her dog tags and held them out to Leon. "I was wearing these, though. They're pretty beaten up, but on one of them is the name 'Radburn'. So.....I guess I'm Radburn." She smiled. "Nice to meet you, Leon."

[lunar]

Leon perked. This is the first time someone felt like they could trust him. "I see then. All I remember was everything fading into white and the next thing I know... I'm in the corner of a street." He pondered for a moment. "We haven't been here for very long, Radburn... I am getting genuinely curious about this city."

[radburn]

"I know, right?" She looked out the window again. "I mean, this place feels so weird. It's a city; it should be overflowing with life. But you're the only other person I've seen here." She turned back to him. "Besides......I've never heard of a city with robot waiters." A moment passed, and she pressed herself up to the window again. "Wait, are we in Japan?"
