Things Can Only Get Better

Mike sighed. It seemed Beth and the mysterious man in the video were the only sociable people in this place. He leaned back in his seat.

"Right, so we're in the 'City of the Lost', we all have one of these laptop things, and no idea how we got here." He scratched his head. "Anyone got any ideas? We could wait for this other guy to show up, or...ugh, I don't know...is there anyone even working in this café?"

Whiz began to cross the street, pulling out his new device as he did. Couldn't hurt to help verify that he really was the guy from the video. He played with his bangs quickly as he did; if there were any ladies present, he'd want to look his best.

He carefully pushed the door open, and was surprised by what he saw. There were two guys and two girls, with one guy sitting off on his own drinking some sort of soda. The girls looked haggard and the other guy looked confused. Whiz wasn't put off; on the contrary, he was in his social element. He stepped forward, smiling broadly.

"Hey there. I'm Richard Eteos. Just call me Whiz."

He sauntered over to the three sitting at a table together, grabbing a chair as he did. Twirling it until it faced backwards, he set it down heavily and dropped into it, leaning across the edge and smiling at the three.

"I guess one of you replied to my video?"

''Oh great even more people....where did the time go that I was alone here?'' Atsuke sighed and got up "alright I'll socialize then.... the name is Atsuke... welcome to hell Whiz.'' Atsuke said sarcastically and ordered another drink that appeared out of nowhere. slowly gulping it down he stared back at the people staring at him. ''what!? I am just not used to having people around.''

Opening her mouth to reply to Mike, Beth was interrupted by a male entering the café. The ringing of the door, causing her to turn her head, half expecting his arrival yet was still shocked to see another person in the city. First she was all alone, and now, people were just dropping in!

Glancing about the male before he spoke, she recognised him from the video, the one by the train station. She hadn't checked if he'd replied or not, how stupid of her. But oh well, he was here now, and he seemed okay? Watching his entrance, her expression changed from excited to somewhat dissapointed. He seemed full of himself, and rather flirtacious, raising one eyebrow at him as he sat down, she leant one elbow on the table.

"I did" She replied finally, raising her free hand. "I'm Beth" She introduced, "Nice to meet you-" Pausing as Atsuke began to speak, she turned her attention to him. "Welcome to the table" She said, sarcastically. She tilted her head as he seemed to summon a drink. "How the hell are you doing that?!" She exclaimed, leaning back a little. "This place is insane.." She muttered, relaxing a bit and looking back at Valencia, Whiz and Mike.

Val glared around the room, seeming to become more and more uncomfortable with each passing minute. Finally, she stood up and shoved her communicator in her pocket.

"I'm leaving," she announced. "If there's a train station, there has to be a track that leaves the city. I'm going to find the rail map and I'm taking the first train to somewhere I know."

With that, she stormed out of the door - a girl on a mission, too determined and set on her plan to stick around and see if anyone else knew anything helpful.

Mike grinned and shook his head slightly as Whiz walked in; he knew a ladies' man when he saw one. He found a strange enjoyment in observing their painfully obvious (to him), very deliberate actions aimed at making them appear more attractive. Not that he held anything against them, indeed, this one looked a decent enough guy.

Opting to stay out of the conversation for a while, Mike pulled out the mysterious device again, and began tapping a few buttons experimentally - Whiz seemed to be able to operate it with ease, so it couldn't be impossible to learn. Within a few seconds, Mike was pretty sure he had found a button that would take the user back to the initial command prompt. Armed with this new knowledge, he began pressing more buttons, resetting after every press.

Satisfied that he knew which commands and buttons would perform certain functions, Mike stowed the device in his pocket again. As he did so, he looked up, raising an eyebrow at Atsuke's sudden urge to socialise (his reluctance to help Mike earlier had left him with a bad first impression). He was about to lean back in his chair again when Val suddenly sprung out of her seat and stormed away. He watched her go, eyebrow still raised.

"Uh, bye, I guess?" he sighed.

Beth rolled her eyes at Valencia steamed up, and stormed out of the café. "Argh!" She exclaimed, standing up, slamming her hands on the desk as she did, not on purpose, she just used it to balance as she kicked the chair backwards enough for her to be able to slide out and push it back in.

Standing upright again, she looked at the door to see through the glass which direction Valencia was going, then back to the table. "I'll-uh, i'd stay but-uh.." She mumbled, a bit stressed out whether to stay or go. "She has my hoodie and...i'd better make sure she's okay..." She grumbled, "For God's sake, why'd she run off like that-" She grumbled, turning and heading to the door. Swinging the door open, she held it open, turning back to exclaim "I'll bring her back here..hopefully" before rushing out of the café.

Atsuke got up and walked out.

After a long and exhausting period of wandering around the city, Mali found herself standing in front of the cafe that Audi had told her about. She hoped dearly that it was the right one, considering all of the other buildings that surrounded her. Still, she was excited that she had found someone else here in this strange and foreign city. She took one more look behind her and then walked inside.

As she walked in, she saw a couple of people gathered around a table inside. A wave of happiness overcame her and she smiled, and shouted at the people. "Hello! Hello there!"

Just before Kat and Audi made it through the door, a girl darted in before them. She wondered if it was the same girl she had been blogging to about it. She hoped so. You know that saying "misery loves company"? Well, apparently so does ignorance.

But as Audi walked in, she realized this seemed to be the town meeting center. There were only so many names in her communicator thing, and it seemed as if most of them were here. The girl had yet to sit down, so was either frozen in shock or had just introduced herself and was waiting for a response. Audi decided to introduce herself as well in either case.

"Uhm...Hey. I'm Audi. Town meeting or something?" Audi had never acutally been to a town meeting. She didn't know if there WERE town meetings outside of movies and books. Maybe it was just chance that they had all stumbled in here? That'd be some serious luck though...

Kat darted in with Audi and looked around ''Oh My gosh!! there's so many people in here!! HELLO EVERYONE!!!'' she shouted happily then spotted whiz sitting down at the table with him she put her bright pink hair behind her ears and made and pulled an attractive face trying to make herself look as attractive as she could ''hello there, I am Kat'' she said in an easy almost weird, calm voice.

Mike frowned. This was getting too crowded, and no-one knew anything. He'd be better off going it alone for a while, he decided. He stood up.

"Okay guys, I'm out, I'm gonna try and figure out some stuff for myself. The laptop thing seems to have a chat function, so I guess we'll still be in contact. Uh, catch you all later." With that, he turned and left. He had never been one for large crowds.

Mali jumped at the loud shouting of the girl that just came it. She nervously pulled out a cigarette and popped it into her mouth as she walked toward the group of people. Some were leaving, while her and the other girls were entering.

She sat down at the table with the boy and the girl whom she had never met and awkwardly waved hello. Meeting new these new people so suddenly unnerved her, especially because she didn't know what they were like at all. Still, she smiled and listened intently on any conversation going on.

Kat Spotted the girl with the cigarette and saw her waving, she enthousiasticly waved back ''hey can I have a cigarette, I havent had one for hours! and I dont know if you can get any around here'' Kat said in her always hyperactive sounding, high pitched voice.
